Worship

Each Sunday we gather to give praise and thanks to God.  We join together to listen to God’s word and learn from each other.  We seek the presence of the Holy Spirit through times of personal meditation and prayer.  We enjoy the fellowship of the Body of Christ.  We call this time of celebration and praise – Worship.

East Woods Presbyterian Church is called to participate and further the work of Jesus Christ in the world and in our community.  Our mission is:
  • To be an authentic community of faith
  • To develop passionate disciples of Jesus Christ
  •  To share the welcoming good news of God with others
  •  To minister through caring service and faithful prayer
  •  To reach out in mission to our neighbors and to the world
  • To experience the presence of the living God in our worship
One of the six components of the East Woods Presbyterian Church Mission Statement is "To experience the presence of the living God in our worship".  While all six components apply in some way to our worship services, this one element drives the way we worship at East Woods.

Worship:  Our services are a blend of the contemporary and traditional, mixing modern praise and worship music with cherished and time-honored hymns.  Our prayer time is very special as we openly voice our joys and concerns so that we may pray for each other in our worship setting.

Our pastor ministers to each of us through his sermons by bringing the Bible to life in ways that we can apply to our daily lives, and challenges us to put our faith into action to become committed disciples of Jesus Christ.

Children are cherished and welcome to stay in worship or attend Children's Sunday School, which begins after the Children's Message during the service.  Classes are offered for ages 4 through 12th grade and nursery care is available for our youngest worshipers.

On occasion we present special styles of worship in varied formats and sometimes even change the physical set up of the sanctuary, such as holding our Christmas Eve service "in the round" to create a more intimate setting.

Family Sunday: is the first Sunday of each month.
On Family Sunday our Children/Youth have the opportunity
to experience all the elements of worship by remaining in
the service for its entire length.  An alternative Children’s
Church is provided for children younger than 3rd grade.

Communion: is celebrated on the first Sunday of each
month.  All are welcome to partake, you do not need to
be a member of this church to participate in this
Sacrament.  Children who have been instructed in the
meaning of communion are welcome to the table, as well.  If you have any questions concerning Communion, please
call our pastor at 360-944-5841.

Opportunities for service:  Greeters, scripture readers,
praise song leaders or instrumentalists, special music
participants, as well as, special worship event coordinators
and participants.  Please call the church office
360-944-5841 if you are interested in any of these
opportunities.
